I bet many of us have seen the trilogy of “The Lord of the Rings” and many of us will surely admit that it was a good and instigating movie. I have also seen it and realized that we have a lot to learn from this movie. So, I want to share my interpretation or rather, my learning’s on this epic and sensational trilogy.
It is important to always have a clear Objective, in the first part of the Trilogy, “The Fellowship of the Ring”, Frodo as the guardian of the Ring is persistent with the Objective to destroy the Ring in the fire where it was first made. This is the first and foremost objective which led them to form a Fellowship comprising Frodo himself, Gandalf, Legolas the elf, Gimli the Dwarf, Aragorn, Boromir and his three Hobbit friends Merry, Pippin and Samwise. If they had not had a clear Objective, they would not have had to form a fellowship or for that matter go on a journey to fulfill their objective. Similarly in life, one should have a clear objective of what one wants to become and simultaneously follow the path to reach and fulfill his objective.
Exert strong Determination , This can be acknowledged with reference to the movie, Gandalf supposedly died after the attack of the fiercely dragon followed by the dead of Boromir when they were surprisingly attacked by the Sauron’s Army while continuing their journey. In spite of Gandalf’s and sudden death of Boromir , Frodo was determined to carry on his journey even alone to fulfill his aim of destroying the ring while he also knows that the ring will destroy him. Likewise, in life, having an objective will not lead us to success but following that aim with full determination will.
As mentioned above, determination will contribute to leading us in the path of success, but strengthening and withholding Perseverance will make us strong-willed and hard to be able to bear and face the struggle and hardship that we are inevitably going to come across in our journey of life. From the first part till the last part, the movie gives a whole stretch and experimentation of one’s perseverance.
Throughout the journey in the whole trilogy, we see many times that the people of middle earth were continuously attacked and outnumbered by the Dark Lord Sauron’s Army claiming thousands of lives, ruining their villages and demolishing them. But the hope to fight and face the evil and also the hope to fulfill their main objective of destroying the ring is what keeps them going all around. It is thus important to never lose hope no matter how dark the path leads you.
Learning to Trust is also a very important factor which contributes to our well-being in life. In order to be able to move ahead and walk the path of our destiny, we should learn to trust one another and also the most important thing, we should trust ourselves and our instinct with a hope that it will never fail us. Many occasions in the movie also depict an outstanding trust between the people who works and toils for the end of evil.
The people we trust may betray us, our hopes may sink with the darkness of the day and our determination may lead us to self-doubt but we should not forget to never give up. As Paulo Coelho rightly said “Success in life is to fall down seven times and get up 8 times”. Also clearly visible in the movie , in spite of being tempted, intimidated and tortured, Frodo has never give up his hope and keep on marching towards the city of Mordor only with one objective – to destroy the Ring and demolish evil!
Lastly, from this epic and awe-inspiring movie, we can learn the precious lesson to value Relationship, dedication to relationship and how to cherish and care for the people who are important to us. Who else can teach us about relationship and dedication than Sam wise Gamgee, the dedicated Gardener who will never leave his master and rather follow him when everyone else agreed to let him go alone to continue the journey to the two tower in the city of Mordor, the Kingdom of the Dark Lord Sauron. It is such a remarkable dedication, conviction and trust in his master that Sam wise Gamgee showed us and for which he is even ready to lay down his life for Frodo.
