I have just finished watching Oprah Winfrey’s Episode of the documentary film called “I am” by renowned Hollywood director Tom Shadyac. It is such a wonderful piece to watch and listen to the discussion and the revelation made by the filmmaker about the film. As Tom describes, I am is a film based mainly on the fact about what’s wrong with our world and how we can improve both it and the way we live in it. He further explains saying that he himself has explore and redefined his own self by staying in a mobile trailer and ditching his huge mansion. This is such a rejuvenating and sacred revelation about the reality of our lives and the world we lives in.
The best part I love about this particular episode is when Tom says that all humans are connected in one ways or another and it is important that we think for each other and our satisfaction rather than thinking about what you want for yourself. He also added further saying that we should take only what we need and give away the rest to everybody else who is not as abundantly rich as we are in terms of physical, mental and materialistic needs.
Coming back to the film, I got the chance to watch it and find it really refreshing to watch as well as makes me realized that we should be more a giver than a taker in this life because we are more blessed than some people who cannot even afford a meal for themselves. The world is connected to each other and everyone is connected in some way or the other so it is natural for one of us to be able to feel the pain and emotions of other people. The most important thing i love about the film is the fact that the vegus nerve of our body elevates the emotions that eludes from our body which in turn brings expressions/feelings from our heart. This really has an impact on me as a matter of fact i realize and get to learn alot of things through this film and I thank the director for his effort in creating a film which touches everyone who watch it.
What he discovered revolves around three key concepts that are explored in I Am:
1. It is scientifically proven that the entire human race is connected.
2. It is human nature to be cooperative rather than competitive.
3. If you don’t do what your heart wants you to do and follow your passion, it will destroy you.
My verdict : Try watching the film atleast once and you will realize the true sense of living and making our world a better place to live in with little efforts that contributes to a better and larger change.
